ATTRAVERSO: MARY SHELLEY
2019
UX/UI design
The project was developed during a one week workshop with TIWI, a multimedia company based in Reggio Emilia.
The brief was developing an interactive experience linked to a new series by Sky Arte: each episode of the series is focused on a famous person, and my team worked on the episode about Mary Shelley.
Introduction

Mary Shelley is more than the name behind Frankenstein: the Sky Arte's episode about her, in fact, sheds a light on one of the least known parts of her life.
After her husband, Percy, died in Italy, Mary came back to London, in order to make a living on writing, for herself and her son.
So the episode will be a sort of "interview" about her trip to England.
While looking for information about her, we were deeply touched by some of the pages she wrote: but we're not talking about Frankenstein or other novels, but about the letters she wrote and the pages of her diary.
We were surprised by the way she would see the reality around her, moved by her independent personality but also by the romantic philosophy.

Concept

The app makes the user access three virtual rooms, that he/she can navigate thanks to its gyroscope.
After looking around a bit, the user can drag the "romantic" filter over the screen, in order to see the reality through Mary Shelley's eyes.
In the GIF above, we represented a scene in which Mary Shelley, in her diary, compares Pisa's inhabitants to crabs.
Development
Since the focus of Sky Arte's series is traveling, we divided the experience in three parts, each of which represents a place visited by Mary during her life.
